This prenatal listener is designed for expecting parents in order to engage in the intimate ritual of listening to the unborn baby. During the pregnancy period the mother very closely connected to the unborn baby, leaving the father less involved. The prenatal listener engages the father in the process of looking for the child’s heartbeat by showing the direction of which the best sound is coming from. Two listening shells allow both parents to listen to the sounds coming from the womb, without disclosing themselves from each other. Inspired by the intimacy that listening to the unborn baby used to entail, and the technological possibilities of the future, this concept was developed.
